I have yet to make anything less than a stellar dish whenever I get a recipe off of Smitten Kitchen, my favorite food blog. Tonight was just the same - I did a quick search for "lentils" and was given this awesome dish, Stewed Lentils and Tomatoes Very easy, low-fat and no outlandish ingredients. Sausage or chicken could easily be added to this to make it more Man-Approved, and Patrick suggested it perhaps being served over rice next time.

i'll put this in my to-make list.
i read her site a lot but haven't tried many recipes. a lot of her recipes use fattening ingredients. i always wonder how these food bloggers don't gain a million pounds since they cook and eat awesome meals every day.

just re read the recipe and i'll make it this week. i just bought a box of french green lentils. i read david lebovitz's cooking blog and he had a whole post on how good french green lentils are so i found some and they are pretty awesome. they don't turn mushy. i made a batch of green lentils with some vinegar and a teeny bit of bacon and put a poached egg on top: soo delicious and egg counts as a meat in peter's book.
Excuse me, why are you commenting on Sarah's blog and not mine?
made it. it was fine. no big whoop.
give me more to try, i'm in a recipe rut.
right now in my cupboard i have:
a can of clams
a can of spicy thai crab meat
a tin of garlic stuffed squid
they've been sitting there for 5yrs.

also i have 90 cans of black olives (and i don't like canned black olives, not sure how i got so many)
